Auricular acupuncture is a relatively modern system of acupuncture that involves inserting very small needles into specific points in the auricle, or exterior portion of the ear. This system allows for treatment of musculoskeletal pain or injury, digestive issues, endocrine imbalances, and psycho-emotional concerns all in one place.
Stress and trauma:
Auricular acupuncture is an effective, non-invasive way to support mental, emotional, and physical healing from stress and/ or trauma through regulating the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, endocrine and cardiovascular systems, as well as the brain. Results include calmer and clearer thinking, feeling more grounded or centered, improved ability to respond to stressors more consciously and deliberately, as well as improved sleep and daytime energy.
Clinical research indicates that auricular acupuncture, in conjunction with regular/ body acupuncture, improves outcomes related to in-vitro fertilization, and can help regulate hormones and uterine blood flow.
Side effects: Most people report feeling relaxed and calm after receiving auricular acupuncture treatment. However, dizziness may also occur, so we encourage patients to eat and drink water prior to receiving acupuncture treatment.
Starting January, 2017, Hands & Needles Acupuncture will be offering auricular-only treatments. These 30-minute treatments are a quick and effective way to help manage stress and maintain health while on a tight schedule. Call 303-842-2480 or visit our website to book your appointment.
